Handmade in Italy
L.G.R eyewear is entirely handmade in Italy by three artisanal families, who build each frame from start to finish using traditional methods of production in order to deliver an authentic and noble product.

L.G.R preserves Italian values and heritage through hard work by real people who have spent their lives specializing in this meticulous line of craftsmanship. The result is a genuine product that translates excellence through passion and authenticity. Every L.G.R frame is created with the idea of an indestructible product able to accompany the adventurer in its endless experiences. For each frame, the production process can last from 8 to 14 weeks.
Acetate
Material selection is at the very core of L.G.R: only the best Italian acetate is sourced in order to ensure resistant and long lasting products.

It all starts with a sheet of cellulose acetate, a material of natural origin composed mainly of cellulose obtained from the cotton plant and wood fibers from which, after a special treatment, acetate is derived.
An acetate sheet usually measures 1 meter by 70 centimeters. The rough slab is cut into smaller rectangular slabs which are then placed in the pantograph, a machine that shapes the eyewear front.

The rods are instead cut in a mold with a die. The solidity of the temples is guaranteed by a metal core that is inserted inside to make them more rigid and resistant.
Tumbling Process
Once the shaping is completed, fronts and temples are subjected to the tumbling process. Each piece spends from 48 to 76 hours in the tumblers, octagonal containers filled with small chips of beech and birch wood, whose continuous movement generates a slight abrasion that eliminates imperfections and makes the surface of the acetate perfectly smooth, preparing it for the following stage: the polishing.
Polishing
After the tumbling process, each frame is inspected and assembled by the hands of our expert craftsmen: every small imperfection is smoothed away, the temples are mounted and fixed to the front with hinges. The next step is to polish the frame by hand, to make the glasses perfectly shiny.
Fire Stamping
This is one of the last steps into the making of an L.G.R frame. A detail which is almost extinct in the eyewear production which now days uses lasers predominantly. The fire stamping involves heated brass characters that go through a golden foil and end up embossing our logo inside the temples. The result is a neat signature that will shine and last in time.
